District News

The School Board met on Thursday, Oct. 23, with the following items on the agenda:

East Ridge High School seniors Brianna Goetzke and Pierce Firebaugh are recognized as 2014-15 National Hispanic Recognition Program award recipients through College Board.

Ninety students in Woodbury High School’s Marching Band traveled to Florida this month to participate in unique marching band events, a workshop, and to perform at Walt Disney World.

District 833’s Community Youth Council and students from all three of the district’s high school Key Clubs entertained 80 elementary school students at Royal Oaks Elementary on Friday, Oct. 17 for Community Education’s Parents' Night Out.

October is Apple Month, and Nutrition Services is celebrating with apples from Whistling Well Farm in Afton. The district is excited to feature the SnowSweet Apple from Whistling Well Farm on Oct. 28 for all students to enjoy.

Governor Mark Dayton proclaimed Oct. 20-25 as Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) Week in Minnesota, as ECFE is celebrating 40 years of educating Minnesota’s families.

Woodbury Elementary School holds a character assembly each month that focuses on a specific character trait, celebrates successes around the school, and emphasizes the importance that every student and staff at the school is part of the Woodbury Elementary community.

Students from across District 833 participate in the month’s events, and this year the message was, “The End of Bullying Begins with You.”

East Ridge High School's fall musical is Into the Woods, Park High School’s fall play is The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, and Woodbury High School's fall musical is Curtains.

Students and staff members from several of District 833’s elementary schools have been visiting the Bailey School Forest Park in Newport this month.
