The School Board met on Thursday, April 23, with the following items on the agenda:

The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) has recognized Park High School Activities Director Phil Kuemmel as a Certified Athletic Administrator.

On Wednesday, May 6, students, staff and families in South Washington County Schools will participate in Bike to School Day, a global event that is celebrated in over 40 countries.

On April 22, the City of Cottage Grove presented its 2015 Sustainable City Award to Pine Hill Elementary School for the school’s tower garden project.

Woodbury High School senior William Bobo earned gold and silver medals in the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference on April 10.

The Second Annual District 833 Orchestra Festival will be held on Sunday, April 26 at 4 p.m. at Woodbury High School.

Education Commissioner Brenda Cassellius announced late Tuesday that the state will temporarily suspend administration of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments, until all technical problems with the testing system are resolved.

Representing South Washington County Schools were East Ridge High School’s Emily Betz, Park High School’s Annie Williams and Woodbury High School’s Ana Sortland.

Park High School students Khadra Ahmed and Elizabeth Carlson have been named 2015 Dell Scholars, receiving $20,000 scholarships over four years, a Dell laptop and printer, textbook credits, and other resources to support their success in college.

Park High School choir students have been fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in ¡Cantaré! this school year, which is a unique program designed to bring the talents of composers from Mexico directly into Minnesota classrooms.
